Last night was amazing! So amazing I’m 99% sure I’ll be back in a theater on January 9 to see Rachel Hollis in her Made for More movie again. This time, I’m bringing a notebook and recruiting my own #chictribe! I laughed. I sang. I cried. I dreamed. And most of all, I the Universe showing me I’m on the right path to uncovering my life’s purpose.
I’ve been on a personal growth journey for a few years now so not much that Rachel said was new to me. But, the way she said it—with humor, passion and authenticity—made me believe what’s been stirring in my heart: now is the time to move mountains.

For the longest time, I’ve had the feeling that I was made for more. That’s what drew me to Rachel’s book Girl, Wash Your Face. The idea that I can stop believing the lies and become who I am meant to be. I say I’m on a journey to living life gold. Gold being that place beyond limitations, fear and doubt, living from a place of childhood innocence and joy. I am meant to uncover that gold in myself and share with others how to do it too.
So what did I take away? This…
Embrace your past in order to embrace your future. We are warriors for enduring the traumas we’ve endured, yet we haven’t come this far to only come this far. For those who don’t know, I spent years (lots of years) struggling with anxiety and depression. I spent a lot of time in talk therapy (it didn’t work). And now, I see a life coach who has helped me tremendously. I’m in the final stages of acceptance and forgiveness and finally feel ready for what God has in store for me. The roadblocks have been moved!
Next, set yourself up for success. Rachel gives you five areas of focus for you to start becoming the best version of yourself and creating the future of your dreams. I was so excited to see that I’d already put some of these into action!
- Physical Environment – If you want more for your life, it starts at home. My mom can tell you, I started the clearing process yesterday and already had plans to donate all the things today!
- Personal Environment – If you are not taking care of your physical body, there is a 0% chance that you’re going to become the version of yourself you want to be. We need take care of ourselves before we have any chance of taking care of others or doing the things we dream of doing.
- Community – You are the combination of the five people you spend the most time with. This is not new information; we’ve all heard this. And if you haven’t, we need to talk. Either way, this has been weighing on my heart lately. I’m just going to leave it at that for now.
- Morning Routine – We must take intentional actions to start our day STRONG. This is definitely an area of struggle for me. I aim to start my day with prayer, meditation and WRITING!
- Habits – We need to embrace our good habits and change the habits that don’t serve us. Every habit is made up of three elements: the cue, the action and the reward. We can’t change the cue, but we CAN change the action and the reward! It’s time to take an inventory of my habits.

There’s so, so, so much more, so RUN, don’t walk to see this documentary for yourself.
