I once told my students to swipe left on that thought. They erupted in laughter. I didn’t realize they heard thot. I had to laugh at myself and my unintended double entendre, but my original message still stands. 

When negative thoughts cross our minds, we need to get rid of them. We need to swipe left. We’re not interested. It’s not a match. They need to move on. Cancel. Delete. That’s not truth. That’s not love. We’re done. 

We are not our thoughts or rather we are not our negative thoughts. What we think, we become and with 60,000 thoughts a day, we really need to pay attention. What are your thoughts? How do you talk to yourself? If that person talking to you in your head were standing in front of you, what would you do to her? It’s time to become hyper aware and notice what we allow. 

This was, and still is, one of my biggest struggles. I was born saying, “I can’t.” Negativity is my default. I’ve had to work–and I mean WORK–at being lighter and more positive. My shadow is dark and twisty. But the more I began to notice my patterns, the more I was able to shift them. 

So, I challenge you to begin to audit your thoughts. Set a time. Maybe it’s just before you go to bed. Maybe it’s when you sit down to eat. Or, maybe it’s every hour that you ask yourself, “what have I been thinking?” The more you do, the more you’ll begin to notice a difference.
